Sri lanka has been british colony for long time until 1948.In February 04 1948,Sri Lanka has achieved independence from british.it's great day for sri lankans to celebrate their independence.
Before gaining independence,National heroes of sri lanka had trying to gain freedom from british colony but failed.

1. 1818 Uva-Wellassa rebellion

Uva-Wellassa rebellion is rebellion which is battle aganist with British forces,taken place in Uva-Wellassa,1818.Many of rebels are joined in this battle excluding Molligoda.
Keppetipola Disawe is one of sri lankan rebel that launched rebellion in order to regain freedom from british.But before they does,they had captured by British forces and executed him in 25 November 1818.ending the rebellion.In aftermath,It caused many tragedy events,such as a British Forces has destroyed home,property to these who have been involved in rebellion

2. 1848 rebellion

1848 Rebellion is a rebellion that took place in matale,sri lanka.It was aganist with british colonial for their unjustice such as issues expensive license fees,slavery.This rebellion was lead by main leaders(Gongalegoda Banda and Veera Puran Appu) and supported by many kandy people.
It also ended with capturing these leaders by British forces,makes it second rebellion to failed.
